The 8^th World Logic Day

January 16, 2026

In November 2019, UNESCO declared January 14, the date of Alfred Tarski's birthday and Kurt Gödel's death, as World Logic Day. To celebrate the 8^th anniversary of World Logic Day, the Seminar for Mathematical Logic will organize a special meeting on January 16, 2026, 15:00 CET. Speakers (in serbian) are Zoran Petrić (A path of General Proof Theory), Slobodan Vujošević (Memories of Saša Kron) and Miloš Adžić (Philosophy, logic, and mathematics – the architectonics of concepts. A special issue of the journal Theoria).

80 Years of the Mathematical Institute

May 15th, 2026

The first meeting of the Institute's Committee took place on May 15, 1946, marking the beginning of the Institute’s work as an official unit of the Serbian Academy of Sciences. In recognition of this milestone, our Board later proclaimed May 15 as Mathematical Institute Day. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Institute, the Scientific Committee will hold a ceremonial session on May 15, 2026.

The Mathematical institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts is seeking nominations for the PhD, M.Sc., and student Annual awards for mathematics/mechanics and for computer science.

EMS EC and ERCOM meetings in Belgrade

March 19-21, 2026

MISANU will host the meetings of the European Mathematical Society (EMS) Executive Council and the European Research Centres in Mathematics (ERCOM) from March 19 to 21, 2026.
These events will bring together the EMS leadership, representatives of ERCOM institutes, and distinguished guests for consultations, the exchange of best practices, and discussions on shared challenges and opportunities for collaboration across Europe.
International cooperation is a cornerstone of MISANU’s mission, and we are honored to welcome these prestigious meetings to our region for the first time, coinciding with the celebration of our 80^th anniversary.
